2wcymbls.JPG (11823 bytes)Winter 1942 turn:

One British RAF unit is in range of Berlin, but, since the Germans aren't slated to get any replacements this winter, the British don't bother to bomb. The British haven't lost any units, so the German U-boats hold their torpedoes. The USSR has lost four units, and is scheduled to receive exactly four replacements. The Germans have two air units within range of Moscow (and the Soviets have no air force to defend it) and they both conduct strategic bombing attacks, eliminating one Soviet replacement.

The USSR gets 4-1=3 replacements. They rebuild both fronts and the air unit they lost in 1941, placing all three units in Moscow. *

Strangely, Spain decides to join the Axis.

Comments: On the eastern front, the Russian bear has his back to the wall, nearly broken. But the Bolsheviks catch a break as they replace almost all the units they lost in 1941 and cram them all into the capital, making it nearly impossible for the Germans to take Moscow in the Spring of 1942. This is critical, as America is about to enter the war and the Germans have precious little time as it is to finish things in the east before they must pull units out of the USSR to face an Allied threat from the west. And the British, with three armies and two naval units in the Mediterranean, are about to rip into the soft spaghetti underbelly of Europe. 1942 will decide the course of the rest of the war.
