Summer
1944 Axis turn:
The Germans react to the Allied landings in France by throwing four armies and two air
units against the British beachhead. The British airborne corps is annihilated, but the
British 2nd army hangs on.
Elsewhere, the SS panzer army is pulled out of Rome and redeployed to Belgium. The last
remnants of the Italian army are left to defend besieged Rome alone. On the eastern front,
the Germans conduct a limited strategic withdrawal to shorten their lines, now running
from the Baltic states in the north to Minsk in the center to the Rumanian border in the
south.
Summer
1944 Allied turn:
The Allies pour more forces into France. Five armies attack the German stack next to Paris
and destroy the 3-10 air unit, but gain no ground.
Elsewhere, Rome falls to the British and Canadians. The eastern front erupts with Soviet
attacks all along the line. Casualties on both sides are heavy. The German 6th army is
destroyed in battles around Minsk, but the German 7th army holds the city. The American
airborne corps lands in northern Ireland.
