Fall
1942 Axis turn:
With the British having committed to the invasion of Sicily, the immediate threat of a
cross-channel attack on France and the Reich itself is temporarily relieved. The Germans
thus decide to keep all their forces in the east and take one last stab at Moscow, and
victory. Four armies and two air units attack the 9-4 front and 3-10 air unit stacked in
the Soviet capital. Each side loses an air unit, but the defenders will not be pried from
the spires of the Kremlin and Moscow stays Soviet. To the north, the 4th panzer army,
cornered in Finland, tries to break out in an attack in concert with three German armies
and an air unit against the Soviet siberian "East" front. Once again the
stubborn siberians stymie the Heinies, and the position of the 4th panzer army is left
even more precarious.
Elsewhere, the Italians pack as many units as they are allowed to stack in Rome in an
effort to tie down the Allies in Italy for as long as possible.
Fall
1942 Allied turn:
The Soviets try to destroy the 4th panzer army. The siberian "East" front and a
tank army attack, but the panzers escape by retreating one hex south into Leningrad.
Elsewhere, the British and Canadians advance up the Italian boot to the outskirts of Rome.
American and British air units and the British airborne corps are sent to Sicily as the
Allies build up for an offensive to take Italy out of the war.
