Summer
1941 Axis turn:
On the eastern front, the Germans, still hemmed in and unable to bring all of their forces
to bear due to the shortened line, exert pressure on the north and center. All four panzer
armies, with air support from both 3-10's, push back the Soviet "West" front.
The advancing panzers turn and envelope the fortified "Kiev" front, which is
then attacked by four German infantry armies and the 2-10 air unit. The fortress is
cracked, but the "Kiev" front holds on, cut off and surrounded. The airborne
army in Norway, faced with superior British forces, is withdrawn by sea, but only to land
in Finland -- amphibious assault by paratroops! Simultaneously, an Italian army takes the
Crimea via seaborne landing from the Black Sea. The worst fears of the Soviets are
realized as the Axis try outflanking the "South" front from the sea.
Elsewhere, the Yugoslav army is blitzed out of existence, and Belgrade falls, to a
combined German/Italian onslaught.
Summer
1941 Allied turn:
Situation serious on the eastern front, as the Soviet "North" front evacuates
Leningrad to avoid being cut off by a German airborne assault from Finland. The
"South" front is forced to withdraw one hex east to escape the threat of
encirclement between the Germans advancing across the Ukraine, and the Italians moving up
from the Crimea. In the center, the "West" front and the trapped
"Kiev" front launch an attack on the German 5th panzer army in a desperate
attempt to break the encirclement. The effort fails and leaves the "Kiev" front
isolated and out of supply.
Elsewhere, the British army marches unopposed into Oslo, thus Norway becomes the first
country to be liberated from Nazi rule.
